“Papers Hidden in the Sofa” (Polish: Bibuła w tapczanie) is a story about both the grand and the everyday history — about the strength of community and the need for democracy, freedom, and independence — values that matter even to the youngest citizens.
Through this puppet performance, young audiences will discover what the world looked like when their parents and grandparents were children. They’ll learn who Wałęsa and Jaruzelski were, who the ZOMO police were, and why secret underground leaflets — known as bibuła — were hidden in the sofa.
It’s a slightly wild journey through the 1980s for children and their parents alike, told with warmth and humour. “Papers Hidden in the Sofa” is a gift for today’s children, celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Solidarity revolution.
